Boabdil cut a deal with F&I under which he and other Muslims would be allowed to live if they agreed to immediately leave Spain. As he rode away from Granada, the city where he was born and had lived his whole life, legend has it that he wept. Legend also has it that his mother, obviously a kindly lady, snapped at him, "You weep like a woman for what you could not hold as a man."
