#9 beat #7 in OT. That's not a massive upset of the BCS system. Apparently they were fairly evenly matched and ranked.
The BCS is designed to rank schools based upon who they play and how well they whip them. It wasn't designed to force out smaller schools. A team shouldn't get to the national title because they play a ton of easy games.
Baloney, that's precisely what it was designed for. You want to find out who's the best? Let the best teams with the best records play each other and see who wins. If ease of schedule is as big a factor as they say it is, then the big football schools have nothing to worry about, right?
Well, for most of the "big boys" in Div I, almost half the schedule is used up playing the same kind of teams Boise State played this year. Even big conference teams' schedules include their share of easy wins ... can you say Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, MSU and Minnesota?
