A man who has a history of smashing windows to indulge his fetish for female mannequins could draw a long prison term for his latest arrest. Ronald A. Dotson, 39, of Detroit faces up to life in prison if convicted of a charge of attempted breaking and entering at a cleaning-supply company in the Detroit suburb of Ferndale.
The potential life sentence is because prosecutors charged him as a habitual offender. Authorities say he has at least six convictions for breaking and entering and a stint in state prison over the last 13 years.
Ferndale District Judge Joseph Longo ordered Dotson to stand trial following a preliminary examination on Thursday, The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak reported. The judge ordered him jailed unless he posts a $15,000 bond.
Dotson was arrested Oct. 9 after police say he smashed a window at a cleaning-supply company to get at a female mannequin dressed in a black and white French maid's uniform. He had been out of prison for less than a week.
Dotson was arrested in Ferndale in July 2000 and later convicted for breaking and entering at a women's clothing shop to get at a mannequin in a pink dress with bobbed hair.
Ferndale police also arrested Dotson in 1993 after finding him in an alley behind a woman's store with three lingerie-clad mannequins. He also has similar convictions in Detroit and suburban Oak Park.
I can guarantee it is less than the cost of housing this guy in prison for the rest of his life.

What a doll!
Oh, yeah!
"charged as a habitual offender". 6 convictions for B&E. and a stint in the can. how many chances does a guy like this get bleeder? have any daughters? (I have four) when a nut job like this ties up and hurts your young girls (if you have any) how would you feel knowing he could have been locked up?
Yep she's a real doll. So is the one in 24.
Ahhh,. you must have seen Tom Cruise in "Minority Report", where he arrested people for FUTURE crimes. Every totalitarian society does that in one form or another.
You'd fit in real well there.
"movie based on a mannequin fetish"
------you may have been thinking of Mannequin with Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall (of Sex and the City fame)
But you could also be thinking of something starring Diane Lane as a window dresser/designer for a big Department store in Pittsburgh caaaaaaaaaaalllllllled.......wait, lemme think......"Lady Beware"???
Too damn funny....
Hmmm. People still live in Detroit, I did not know that. Note to self....
>>>police say he smashed a window at a cleaning-supply company to get at a female mannequin dressed in a black and white French maid's uniform.
She was asking for it.
Not likely. People don't just switch paraphilias. He's turned on by mannequins, and I don't see a lot of likelihood that move up to rape of a real, live woman unless she was standing motionless in a store window, and even then he'd lose the, erm, starch in his collar when the lady started moving.
I'd be interested in knowing what kind of mental health care, if any, he got in the joint, with follow-up afterward. That question isn't about feeling tender-hearted toward the perv. If he'd had had serious help inside and follow-up as a condition of parole, the authorities wouldn't have had to waste their time arresting and prosecuting him. At least six more times, and probably far more, because if he had six convictions he probably had at least a dozen arrests, probably going back to expunged juvenile cases.
Maybe he likes the thrill of the hunt.
If he just bought them, there'd be no red-blooded moment of truth, no smashing through all obstacles to lay claim to his prize.
I can relate.
I could be wrong, but I don't this guy gives real women a second look.
Hubba hubba!
bleed liberal bleed. good grief this guy was a habitual offender. reread the story. what is so hard to understand? how many daughters do you have that might be confronted by this monster? yeah, how many???
Oh come on. How many women do you know with a mannequin in their home?
