James Brown's political legacy would be hard for the liberal black establishment to challenge.

Although James Brown had known Al Sharpton for decades, he also performed at Richard Nixon's 1969 innauguration, and sangs songs with titles like "I don't nobody to give me nothin' open up the door I'll get it myself".

He WAS proud of America. Living In America wasn't just some movie theme song to him.
