Michael Jackson Kisses James Brown Goodbye

Among thousands of fans and celebrities who gathered to bid farewell to the godfather of soul, a tearful Michael Jackson did it in his own way, bowing before the casket and kissing Brown’s forehead.

The last funeral held in James Brown’s hometown was as loud and outrageous as the man himself. Over 9,000 people swarmed into Augusta’s James Brown Arena on Saturday to take a last look at the singer.

Once known as the king of pop music, Michael Jackson made his appearance at the funeral on Saturday alongside Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to pay his respects at Brown's gold-plated coffin.

"James Brown is my greatest inspiration, ever since I was a small child," Jackson said adding that when he was a child his mother used to wake him up each time Brown was on TV.

"When I saw him move, I was mesmerized. I've never seen a performer perform like James Brown, and right then and there, I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life."

This was one of the few public appearances Jackson made since he was released of child molestation charges in 2005. It also marked his first major public statement in the United States in 18 months. He did not sing nor dance, unlike most of the people who were present.

"I don't care what the media says tonight, James Brown wanted Michael Jackson with him here today," Al Sharpton said in a booming voice.

"He said ... 'I love Michael.' He said, 'Tell him don't worry about coming home. They always scandalize those that have the talent.'

Let me fix that.

men born to perform, born to serve us, men permanently deprived of privacy... Yes, I am grateful to God for the men he chooses as his instruments.

Part of the problem is what Mikey was doing with his .. ahem, instrument. I don't think messing with little boys is a God driven performance.

They both had much talent, though.

"Yeah, it's too bad Michael Jackson didn't snort a line of ants, lap up Dee Snyder's pee, or bite the head off a bat like Ozzy did."

Ozzy did things to himself. Michael has young victims. You can morally equate the two if you like. I'm not gonna.

SHA-MON! HE-HE HE!!

I don't see what the big deal is. I think that some people are being racial if they have a problem with this. I see no problem with a white woman kissing a deadblack mans forehead. Or wait a second, maybe it was foreskin?

I frankly doubt MJ is, or ever was, a child molester. In fact, I'd wager that he's just an odd and lonely man who finds solace in the company of innocents. Maladjusted, certainly, but not a criminal. Read on before you flame.

Frankly, I think you are delusional and have some sort of celebrity adoration problem. What you have posted will certainly not keep me from flaming.

Jackson is a pedophile who has been protected for years. Everyone knows it, including some of the jurors at his last "sham trial". He is no childs "funny little friend". He is just a pedophile who has money and people around him to hide his perversion.

This does not excuse any parent who is willing to sacrifice their kid to a pervert for the attempt at financial gain.

It took me a minute to realize this was from 2007. My how time flys and nothing really changes.

It is disheartening to now live in a world where the “dead icon” is getting 24/7 memorializing for killing himself with an overdose of prescription drugs after not doing anything worth note in his profession for over 20 years.

His only claim to fame has been salacious news about what little kid and greedy parent was perverted by the plastic nosed manchild in his “kiddie park” in California.

Now the story goes on and the enablers and money grubbers are going to be pointing the finger and filing lawsuits over the spoils.

Geesh

Agreed.

Time flies and nothing changes.

Meanwhile people in Iran are fighting and dying for their freedom. And its been washed off the front pages.

The news is that those poor folks in Iran are going to die miserable deaths. Their familes may also be punished.

So here we are, the skinny pervert is more important than they are.

I think his press coverage will die.. and the protests will continue though.

That is the good news..

I think the protesters will eventually be victorious.. after they get some much needed help from a foreign country.

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

What does this or the hundred other Michael Jackson threads have to do with the charter of this site?

James Brown single-handedly avoided a riot the night MLK was shot, when he went on TV and did a concert. He will always be, “Soul Brother Number One”.
