She acknowleged killing her son because he had recently been diagnosed with epilepsy, if I recall.

Was this some kind of epilepsy that is untreatable and causes the person to be unable to care for themselves?

I usually don’t see epilepsy as being that traumatic that one would become hopeless for the future of an afflicted child.

The boy's epilepsy wasn't that bad - he'd only been recently diagnosed and they hadn't even explored all the treatment options yet.
