About 18 months ago I bought a 34" Sony WEGA CRT HDTV (spent about 1600 bucks) but am still very happy with it. A few weeks ago I bought a 15" Magnavox LCD HDTV for Mrs. Pharmboy for the kitchen--300 bucks at Best Buy. Incredible.
The best thing to watch are sports, concerts or nature shows in HD...once you go to HD, you can never go back.

Agreed. The NFL in HD is amazing. And some of the stuff they show on Discovery HD is breathtaking. And,IMO,CRT is *the* way to go...although they're being phased out.I have the Sony 34XBR960 which is widely believed to give the best PQ ever for home TV.The only disadvantages are that it weighs a ton and it's only 34".

I've got that 34' SONY WEGA myself...and luckily bought the extended warranty.
The warranty ran out this month, but two months ago, a power surge burnt out one of the circuit boards...putting the TV in permanent "stand-by" mode.
The part and labor would have been about $375.
Great television set...other than the weight issue (200 lbs)
