What does OmniPage say is the version of Windows Installer that needs to be present in order to properly install? You may need to get past the first level of customer support in order to get your answer. Be insistent, but kind with them.

You tried Googling your problem? Someone may have already had the same problem. Is OmniPage expecting an earlier or later version of MS Installer?

OmniPage is definitely on the hook with this one, IMO.

Their tech support folks will not converse with me about what they may suspect. They just email me various instructions. The two being windows install clean-up and a new user. I have done clean-up but I am not going to do a new user. I do not see the connection with the error.

No, but I will. Again, I don't know what they are expecting but I did email them the link and told them that I believed Windows was not allowing the patch download because my installer was protecting its Windows files. I asked them so now what? They did not respond to this. They just wanted me to do a new user.

Yes, it is an OmniPage problem and I do not want to mess with my configuration to "make it work" only to find out it causes a problem somewhere else. At that point they can simply tell me--call the vendor of the other issues--should there be any.

I look at techs like a plumbers and furnace men. They come into your house and cut holes and you don't know if they are affecting support walls or not. So I am wary.

I can't see what a user would have to do with an error related to Windows Installer.

I guess I don't even know how to approach the topic any further with them if they fail to address my concerns. Thanks, I will google.
