I love the bit where the Dominican hears about the shrine and thinks it must be a saint ... then learns to his horror that it is a dog.

The shrine of the Holy Greyhound ... French peasants know how to maintain their superstitions.

The Shrine was destroyed more than once, on orders of the Church, but always got back up again.
