That's good news!! I didn't -- but then again, I am looking to get out of a Bad Job (I find I do not like giant corporations) into some fun small company. For an engineer this gets harder as one gets older.

Start a business of your own. You know enough to be a consultant. And a darn good one, too. Why should you work for someone who doesn't appreciate your time and talent?

I dunno... but in any event I'm happy tonight. Their first day back in the office since I sent the resume and I get an e-mail from them asking when this week we can talk by phone!

This is not my experience of job interviews, from either side of the process. Usually there's some time spent gathering applications / resumes, sorting them out, etc., then contacts are made.
