Ramos and Compean Ping
I sent out some e-mails on this one today.
Thanks, I will be there. :-)
I wonder if John & Ken from KFI radio will be there. They sure covered this story on their program and they were pissed.
At first I couldn't believe Bush would let this happen. Now I'm thinking he's sending a message, "Don't mess with illegals."
When it comes to the issue of illegal immigration and border security, Bush is a bigger disgrace than Clinton.
Group Calls for Pardon of Convicted Border Patrol Agents
(CNSNews.com) - A grassroots group is present more than 155,000 petitions from citizens demanding that President Bush pardon two U.S. border agents set to begin serving time for shooting a suspected Mexican drug smuggler. Grassfire.org will join Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) and present the petitions on Thursday in Santa Ana, Calif., during a 1:30 pm (Pacific time) news conference. Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were sentenced to 11 to 12 years for shooting Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, an illegal alien, as he fled back to Mexico after trying to deliver 743 pounds of marijuana inside the U.S. "Because of the actions of these two agents, more than a million dollars in illegal drugs were stopped from being sold to our children. Bringing felony charges against them is simply outrageous," Steve Elliott, president of Grassfire.org, said in a statement. "These men stood heroically for us at the border, and now it is our opportunity to stand up for them." The group has also launched a fax campaign to key lawmakers that led to more than 15,000 faxes flooding key offices, including the White House and U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez. "Thursday's press conference is a last chance effort to motivate President Bush to do the right thing and pardon these men who have been victimized by our legal system," Elliott said. Border agents plead for Christmas pardon
A Border Patrol agent sentenced to prison along with his partner for shooting and wounding a man smuggling drugs into the U.S. will appear with a congressman tomorrow at a rally asking President Bush to offer a pardon.
Jose Alonso Compean and Ignacio Ramos, were sentenced to 12 years and 11 years, respectively, in October by U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cardone in El Paso, Texas. The drug smuggler was granted immunity for his testimony.

I've warned you before about abusing FR sidebars and I won't warn you again. Further abuses may result in suspensions. In the meantime, since you decided to place this in Announcements (where it didn't belong), I chatted it.
