SAN FRANCISCO -- Nothing is sacred for thieves who have snatched two sheep and a lamb from a San Francisco church's Nativity scene.
Normally, four life-sized animals grace the holy scene set up on the lawn on of the West Portal Lutheran Church at 200 Sloat Blvd., off busy 19th Avenue, depicting the birth of Jesus in a stable.
Now there is only one. The sheep and lamb have disappeared this month, Jan Lundquist, the church's secretary, said today.
Lundquist was flabbergasted that someone would stoop to pilfering the replicas of barnyard animals. "What is somebody going to do, put one of these in their living room?''
