And I though that Chiropractors were foolish for suggesting that all diseases are caused by compression of nerves. Maybe if I get a weekly adjustment, I'll never be sick again.... hmmm.

Wow, that's amazing. I just found out that I have diabetes, and the doctors thought it was caused by the steroids that I had taken when I was so sick. I don't have to take insulin. It's not that bad. One of the things that was wrong was a central nervous system disorder. It caused the protective cover on the nerves to strip off causing me to get "electrical shocks." I still get them in my right leg once and a while, but nothing like I did when I was sick. Now that they discovered the diabetes, maybe this new treatment will take it away too. THAT would be a Blessing! I've been praying for a cure. One of my best friends and my uncle both died from diabetes a couple of years ago, after having several amputations.

This helps make sense of a problem with Celiac Syndrome ~ the effect it sometimes has on the pancreas. That, in turn, leads to a false diagnosis of either Type I or Type II diabetes.

If the "inflamation" occurring in the small intestine suppresses nerve activity "upstream" in the pancreas, a diabetic reaction would occur. On the other hand, if capsaicin were to be administered in massive quantities directly into the pancreas, the nerve receptors could be "reset", and the autoimmune "inflamation" affecting both the pancreas and the small intestine reduced (since capsaican has been shown repeatedly to suppress inflamation).

Hmmm.

You'd still need to get that Celiac Syndrome in order though ~ cut out the white bread, rye bread and non-rice beers.

All of which is to say that medical progress in this area (digestive tract) is moving ahead rapidly. Celiac Syndrome has only been nailed down in the last 6 years. Type I and Type II diabetes have been known about more from their symptoms than from their causes. But now we are getting somewhere.

I have Crohn's Disease and this research is certainly promising since it is an auto-immune disease.
