I have been on that stretch of road several times. Anybody that is familiar with the area knows you would have to search the swamps for any type of accident that wasn't directly on the road.
Cars go off those stretches of highway all the time.
Why wasn't the person who reported it called back?

I'm assuming the person that reported it also saw it happen (or shortly after it happened). What'd they do...drive away while dialing 911?

Instead of American cars being equipped with "Black Boxes" as a result of insurance company lobbyists....how about all cars must be equipped with a GPS device that can be accessed by 911 personal? To appease the spousal cheaters and teenage rebels out there, it could be turned on or off by the occupants.

a good number of people who call 911 wish to remain anonymous. this might have been the case here. who knows what the caller was doing at the time? they might not want to have been found out, but felt compelled to call in light of what they stumbled upon.
