Fox News Channel | 12/11/2006

Found in a NC swamp. No foul play...believe to be an auto accident. Prayers for their family. They looked like a loving, happy couple.

I've driven that area an hour or so before sunrise a couple of times in the past month and have seen many deer on each trip. Hope that wasn't the cause.

I like your report better. More meat and less attitude.

And wrong.

We hear about that section of I-95 all the time; it's shut down all the time for wrecks (and even shootings of State Patrol officers) almost every month.

Go to mapquest.com and pull up a map of Rocky Mount, then zoom in on the I-95/US 64 interchange (exit 138). About a half-mile north of there, the aerial photo on Mapquest shows what looks to me like a fairly sizable creek cutting under I-95. It looks to be right about where the exit lane from US 64 merges back onto the Interstate. If it's big enough to be seen from an aerial photo, it's big enough to hold a car. Although in that case, I'm surprised that somebody didn't see the car hit the water, especially out there at 7:30 in the morning.

SHP says that there was no debris field where the accident took place and that unless you looked into the creek you couldn't or wouldn't have seen the car.

They just showed the picture of the creek; it looks pretty deep.

a good number of people who call 911 wish to remain anonymous. this might have been the case here. who knows what the caller was doing at the time? they might not want to have been found out, but felt compelled to call in light of what they stumbled upon.

As much as I love North Carolina, I never understood how people could slam South Carolina for their roads but give you guys a pass. :) There's some parts of 95 and 85 that are just amazingly bad (85 from the VA state line down through Oxford/Henderson to Rocky Mount, and 95 down through Halifax/Roanoke Rapids). And of course the endless construction zone on I-85 around Salisbury, and that horrific bridge across the Yadkin River near there.

I wonder if they drowned? Unless the impact killed them...I guess so. So much sad, sad news.

We are now paying $15,000,000 to fix part of I-40 at Durham and Chapel Hill that is flying off in HUGE chunks.......of conrete! And it's only about two years old.

Our roads are dreadful. I don't drive that part of 95 that you would; I live just above Raleigh, outside 540 near Creedmoor, so we just jump up there and hit 85 -- and it's bad.......just horrible. It's almost a relief to hit the border! :-)

As for the work at Salisbury, they must be moving that road one inch to the left, with a spoon. I can't remember when those barrels weren't there.

I just hold my breath at that bridge; being doing that for 40 years.

Destin? One of my sisters lives in Panama City.....actually, outside of the city. You should visit her!

It's kind of scaring me that people just disappear like that; I just thought there were people around everywhere to "rescue" you.

Add that to all the women in NC who are turning up D E A D in their garages when their husbands are out of state and it's kind of creepy around here.

Everyone should have one of these within reach in their car:

It's a spring loaded center punch. If your car goes into water it's almost impossible to open the doors and electric windows won't work.

Put this little device against the glass, hit the release button, and you have an instant escape route.

I didn't notice when they showed the car if any windows were broken. I pray they weren't fighting to get out.....

Three or four, at least; two found in their garages, one found in her home with a two year old walking around in her blood, and one found in her own trunk.

Just in the last couple of weeks.

A much older version of this one is always on my belt.

The center punch is in the console. Mrs. L's center punch is taped under the dash board.
