Only in America. It is the freedom to do things like this that allows immigrant families -- be they Turkish, Viet-Namese or Jamaican -- to effectively pursue the American dream.
If it's legal and you can make a buck then, by all means, do it. We don't have to like it...we just have to pay for it.
Britney spiraled downhill when Justin Timberlake dumped her. I find it interesting that Britney is determined to win him back and all of a sudden Cameron Diaz has black hair and who suddenly has black hair (again), but Britney. Pretty obvious, but I guess when you're 25 you don't get the obvious.
"'It' means a hairless hooch and the willingness to expose it."
Now that there's funny; I don't care who you are!
LOL! Go Paris Go!
She has good managers. She just shows up.She can walk down a red carpet. That's the sum of her business acumen.
The other almost-supernatural aspect of Hilton's reign of harebrained horror is the way that she herself remains intact while those around her wither. Hilton is like some kind of Dorian Gray cockroach. While her buddies waste away and collapse and see their careers flushed down the celebrity toilet after having been in her presence, she grows stronger: appearing on more magazine covers, getting bigger record contracts, attracting more attention, sleeping with more of her fading friends' boyfriends. Even her Plasticine exterior seems unravaged by her excessive behaviors.Hmm.
She is, frustratingly, indestructible. Hilton has been caught on tape referring to two black friends as "dumb niggers." She has been arrested for drunk driving. She has peed herself in a taxicab in Hawaii. She has vomited onstage while singing her own songs. She has laughed like a retarded hyena as boyfriends like Davis and Niarchos have embarrassed themselves and ruined their own reputations. And yet, she has never had to go on Letterman to apologize; she has never had to meet with leaders of a community to make amends; she never even had to clean the taxi that she befouled.

Good business woman?
Her "managers" think it will advance her career if she can demonstrate her ability to drink Britney under the table or flash her not-so-private parts for the cameras.
Under the virtues of the current generation, they are correct in doing so.
Hilton is the perfect People/US/Parade celebrity - famous for being famous. She defies any sort of intelligent criticism since she doesn't do anything (as the author points out).
She is also the perfect mirror to hold up to society - people who take an interest in Hilton frighten and sadden me. I will refrain from stereotyping those who follow empty celeb gossip but I think we all know the sort. There are so many other things to learn and do in this world.
