I guess we'll never have movie stories which compare number of tickets sold instead of dollars. When movies are years apart, box office income is difficult to compare.

Over at Box Office Mojo they have statistics that show actual tickets sold as well as inflation-adjusted totals. The all time top three after adjustments are "Gone with the Wind", "Star Wars", and "Sound of Music"

So is the population when you compare this country across 10 years (or 60+ in the case of Gone With The Wind, etc.)
