so... The Basic input output system is NOT needed to control your CPU ratio, multiplier HTT, voltage and memory settings?

??? Where did I claim that? Current BIOSes do, however, check RAM, existence of peripherals, keyboard, etc. Modern OSes also do all that. I'm not advocating all removal of the BIOS--it is needed. I just think that the BIOS is doing things it no longer needs to do.
