Many Europeans of the so-called pre-Columbian era were savages too. Human life in those times other than your own had little value to almost any culture.

The institutions for commiting mass murder were less centralized across the ocean (Europe) at that time. The spectacles of bloodshed simply aren't comparable.

Not many people are aware that for the first time in about 5000 years there are more people alive than there are dead.
