I have an OT funny regarding that term you brought up:

I worked at a Purdue t-shirt/sweatshirt/trinkets shop in West Lafayette for a couple of summers during school. In those days we could accept IDs for Purdue or for Indiana University as check identification (we had a lot of IU shoppers who lived in Lafayette).

One day when I was really tired, I told an IU student writing a check that I could use HIS driver's license or IUD for identification. Boy, was my face red.

Just started a Carriage House Samplings design, "Americana":

I can't wait to get this one done; I love the design! It is over two threads on linen, but the thread count is 40 ct. Aaaarghhh, my eyes!

I'm making a Ribwarmer for myself in the elongated version with pointed collar, and maybe put pockets in later on. After that, I am going to try to do a swap with a girl who does felted flowers. I'm going to offer to knit her an Adult Surprise out of her scrap bag of yarn if she will make me two or three felted flowers to go with the hat I made for my mother for Christmas.

AFter that, who knows? Maybe get a head start on next Christmas's Christmas presents?

I'm working on a baby blanket in pink camo. It's gonna be SSSOOOO cool!!! It took several trips to SEVERAL WalMarts to find the yarn, and I think I probably bought way too much, but, oh well!!

Also, I've recently joined a Crocheter's Forum, and have joined a "Crochet-A-Long" where we are making hats! What fun!!

A moment to brag:

Just found out my stepmom is making quilt tops that go to become quilts for our heros! She told me she makes quilt tops for "Brooke Army Medical Center for burn patients in hospital family members. They are our military burn patients from Iraq, Afghanistan, where ever actually. I send the completed tops to lady in Waco that quilts them and then sends them on."

And she's been doing it for 3 years, and I didn't realize that!

When she sends me the link again, I'll show you some pics of what she does.

Sigh...that's just the type of thing I would like to do, but I never seem to have the time...maybe if I didn't spend so much time on FR!

Please pass along my thanks and gratitude to your stepmom for doing this. One of the young men from our local Army Reserve unit was killed in Iraq when the oil tanker truck he was driving was hit by some sort of propelled device. He had severe burns over most of his body and passed away at Brooke AMC.

Sadly ironic is the fact that his mother and dad were the family support coordinators for the unit--and they continue to do so while still grieving their loss. Please lift up a good word for Dennis and Patti Frist, their daughters Erin and Johanna, and the memory of their son Luke, when you get a chance.

OK, Crafters...check in time.

I am getting ready to start a piece of embroidery on linen...I still have a half knit sock on the needles and I keep some spinning handy, but I haven't gotten much done.

I keep dreaming of doing other things...like making a appliqued coverlet...

Anybody else have that problem, of dreaming of projects when you really ought to finish what you've gotten started?

Major whining--- I sprained my finger, and have a splint on it...

No sewing or knitting for a bit!

No, of course not. It's just you, KAC. ;) I have 3 projects going now and can't wait to finish one so I can start another. I've got to try socks again.

I hate seaming with a passion. It is not the least bit satisfying for me. I'd rather knit all day than do an arm or body seam.

socks is good. I did spin and knit hubby a pair of socks, then started the next sock with storebought yarn, and it's been sitting in the other room, half done. Of course, I've been moving in, so I have a little excuse for not having 4 or 6 projects going at once like usual...

Sorry, would have responded sooner but had to clean my monitor, there was coffee all over it.

I recently liberated myself from a large backlog of projects that I had started and grown tired of because they were the wrong color or synthetic yarn that I hated. I'm a wool snob, and handspun in particular is my favorite yarn to work with.

I think it's natural to have several projects going at once. A lady I know who is in her 80's has at least three things on the needles all the time, she says that when she gets tired sometimes instead of stopping knitting, she just puts one thing down and works on another for a few minutes, then she's refreshed. This gal is incredible, she is refreshing her knitting skills because her eyesight is going and she wants to be able to knit by feel once she can't see well enough to do much else with her hands. (!) Right now she's working on a vest for herself, and started a second one so she can make TWO at the SAME TIME.

Too many crafts, not enough time. . .

Since I bartered away a large portion of my scarves and shawls, I've been building up my "stash" again. And I took the plunge to donate a bunch of yarn that I really, really wasn't going to use to a local charity (but giving up some of THAT stash wasn't easy). Now, I'm on to beaded wire jewelry, and that seems to be a good fit for me. It's a perfect craft for people with a touch of obsessive-compulsive disorder: you can arrange the beads in little compartments by color or shape or whatever, and rearrange them whenever you take a fancy to do so.

My problem isn't just crafting: it's crafting while finishing some books I got for Christmas while spending time with family while playing Sudoku while surfing FR and oh, yeah, working.
