Putting the python's head under water would have done the job just as well. This snake's handler had no business owning one if he couldn't get out this situation on his own. Burmese pythons are really not good pets...grow too fast and then they become a threat to all. Already in Florida there are way too many of these released into the environment.

Had a friend die from too many rattler bites. Over the years he had been bitten many times by his "pets", but always recovered and knew how to care for the wounds. The last bite he was putting the water dish in a diamondbacks cage and it got him.

I considered him an expert but playing with venomous snakes can be dangerous.
