My little brother sat on a child abuse/death case and it really haunted him. I hope it isn't something like that...
Yeah, that's another risk.
My only jury time was that arson case. It was really interesting, and perhaps a lot easier because nobody was hurt. No emotional outrage. It was just a case where the lady torched her house for the insurance money.
The fire investigator was really interesting to listen to. He did a great job of explaining what they look for and how they investigate fires.
I remember one kinda funny thing he said was that he first suspected arson when he saw the refrigerator. It was covered with dozens of magnets but all the kids' artwork was gone. Clue, that. :-) And all the clothes were missing in the bedrooms. Plus, she later confessed, so it was pretty much a slam-dunk. But it was interesting.
She was not a very good arsonist. :-)
