Too dang cold for walking!

Happiness is a cuppa with my trusty cat curled up beside me.

At least it's sunny.

Here's a picture of my AR15 with the Midwest Industries free-float handguard. The bottom rail is removed, showing the clamp around the barrel nut that anchors the rear end of the handguard.

Another view, giving a better idea of how everything clamps to the barrel nut with four hugh cap screws. The handguard is a cantilever that doesn't touch anything else on the rifle.

Finally, a view from the front. The front bracket doesn't touch any part of the barrel. It's just there to provide an attachment point for the bottom rail.

I always wanted a free-float handguard for accuracy purposes. I just wasn't ready to remove the barrel in order to install one. Cutting off the delta ring in order to install this clamp-on style is a piece of cake, in my opinion, compared to removing and replacing the barrel.
