The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

What were those little blue flowers you had last year, Hair?

I'm drawing a blank on what they were called... This was my red white and blue pot last year, I had white geraniums, red petunias that aren't even blooming yet in this picture, and this blue stuff. They did really well for the first part of summer, but they eventually got crowded out by the petunias.

I'll take Flowers for $200, Alex. What are Verbena?

So glad to hear the good news about Cartman's eyes. It is amazing the new procedures they come out with!

Is that what that is? :~)

He wouldn't look pretty with shriveled eyes, but they can sew them shut I guess. We'll see!

Here are a few suggestions:

lisianthus

Morning glory

Laurentia

Campanula

Forget-me-not

Texas Blubonnet

Virginia bluebell

I haven't checked out the growing conditions for all of them, but I think the Virginia bluebells (they're perennial, by the way) and the forget-me-nots grow in partial shade. There might be some blue varieties of other flowers like petunias or columbine about.

Oh, good! I've been checking in periodically all afternoon hoping for good news, and that doesn't sound too bad at all, really.

It'd be nice if the drops work, though it's going to be *interesting* trying to give them to him. I have a hard enough time giving eye stuff to my puny little kitties. Gonna be, as someone said in the Saddle Club thread, rather like wrestling a running chain saw. Fun.

He was rather subdued about it at the vets.... we'll see how he is here at home.

They may or may not do anything. We'll see.

Evening Corin, that's a great website the VA Extension Office has for the celebration. Lots of choices there.

Oh yeah...hadn't thought of those. And considering how well they did for me, it's obvious they're easy care. ;-)

I don't think they lasted the whole growing season is the only thing.

Speaking of flowers, it's looking like I'll have daffodils before too long! Guess Cisco did more rearranging than completely digging up. They aren't exactly in nice rows anymore, though...

I don't think I managed to plant any crocuses, though I think I did have bulbs.

I got kinda disheartened when Cisco went on his destructive streak.

Maybe next year!

Heh...it's from Peewee Herman's Big Adventure..

Funny you mention that. While outside, I kept having this urge to say:

The stars at night, are big and bright

While inside, it was lump in the throat the whole time.
