The case against Chalmers, the daughter of Durham Police Chief Steve Chalmers, is being prosecuted by the state Attorney General's Office.
Why isn't Nifong prosecuting this case?!?

No indication in the article as to where the assault took place (other than the dateline). 'tis curious, tho, isn't it? I guess someone decided that the Nifong/Chalmers axis was a bit too... incestuous.

It isn't unusual for the AG to handle a prosecution of LE or their close family members. There are good reasons for it.
