I realize that there are rare exceptions, but for the most part you won't miss windows.
Of course I must also admit, that even though it's come a long way, the installation and configuration of linux is not for the faint of heart or someone who only knows how to turn on their PC and click on a program icon. But if you know someone who can do the install and config for you, you'll hardly notice that you're not using windows, except for the fact that you don't have to spend an hour a day updating virus/malware software and scanning your hard disk till it finally fails from all the scanning. :)
