Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

Posted on 11/21/2006 2:18:30 PM PST by BulletBobCo

Looks like Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 is trying to be forced on to one's computer. My updates just converted Explorer 6 to 7.

I'm just tired of startup being loaded with so much crap that I don't want.

Start/Run/msconfig -- Startup tab. You can deselect what you don't want.

I had to go back to using a FTP program as IE 7 doesn't do FTP very well.

My IT guy for my Mac department told me that Quarrelsome no longer supports Eudora mail and I should switch to Thunder bird. I'm glad to know he wasn't talking about wine...

I have both and been an avid user of FIREFOX for a few years. IE has JUST caught up to the main features on FIREFOX, but not all and Firefox has a lot more to offer. You can change the "skin" with various features such as addons, extensions etc. IWghen I am bored I use STUMBLE - great. You can search a variety of engines, better control of what and where to download etc. AND it is always being updated without waiting for releases.

MSFT allegedly joined up with Novell to leverage against LINUX and possibly claim in court that LINUX infringed on their kernel. Whatever, MSFT is basically admitting that their OS is doomed, IMHO. I like free stuff and think MSFT is fat enough. IMHO OpenOffice is as good as MSOffice and the price is a lot better. All is my opinion.

I don't think you have any conception what barmy means, what the conversation is about, or what I'm saying now.

Thus endeth any conversations with you.

Yeah, I can't seem to find the refresh button easily when I want it. I will get used to it.

I've always wondered why MS can't seem to get FTP, a protocol that has existed for flippin' ever, to work well.

It seems a fellow should be able to create FTP shortcuts in "My Network Places" that can actually work pretty much like any other network connection. NOT!

It is a matter of taste. There are differences - I tend to think Windows users, more or less, will be more comfortable with KDE.

So does Ubunt support mp3's right off the disk? I know the last few distros I jacked with wouldn't support that so I ditched it.

Great. When in the hell are we going to be able to do FTP in a regular explorer window?

IE7's biggest problem is how it deals with site certificates, IMHO. I do like the tabs (I liked them in Firefox, too) but slamming it onto your hard drive in a suite of "security" patches is a little over the line. Google tried that same trick not so long ago inside an Adobe patch, so Micro$oft isn't the only offender.

I installed IE 7 and my HP Director would not open.

Contacted HP and they advised to uninstall and reinstall IE 6 until Microsoft develops a patch for HP products.

Personally I like the IE 7 but it doesn't seem as user friendly as the IE 6.

I am a novice user and too many bells and whistles seems to cause me lots of confusinounion oops....confusion.

I've got some laptops I can play with. What flavor of Linux would be best for me? I have a budget of zero.

I bookmark FTP sites with firefox. IE 7 was stupid. I gave up trying and I forget now what it wouldn't do.

I would've stuck with it, but it made everything, from boot to surf, run slow. Might be that I need a newer faster machine but right now that's not an option.
