the FACTS are that the HORRORS suffered by MY family were COMMON PLACE.

to quote Dr Susan Brownmiller, the union army "raged through the prostrate south, raping, robbing, looting & killing the defenseless, with gleeful abandon". in another place, she stated that, "the poorer you were and the DARKER your skin, the more likely you were to be SAVAGED, as it was "well known" to the union troops that NO OUTRAGE would be punished, unless it was against " the quality", landed, people.

as Dr Brownmiller is neither a southerner or "PRO dixie" in her outlook, you might think on that.
