The Southern States were just minding their own business when a ruthless Army of invading Yankees marched in, burnt homes and began destroying things.

Simple, but accurate.

WELL SAID!

had lincoln, the TYRANT & DESTROYER of the Constitution, chosen PEACE with the new dixie republic, a MILLION lives would have been saved.

furthermore, had he chosen peace, TODAY the citizens of the north could have the sort of LEFTIST, socialist, "NANNYstate" that they seem to desire.

Yes, the southern states wished to be left alone to mind their own business.

The southern states' business was the enslavement and control of a large chunk of their population to exploit to the end of wealth and idleness. As one confederate big shot said it was the "cornerstone of the confederacy".

The rebellion was merely a political power grab by the dixie slave elite. And events proved that as the CSA did not really have the deep popular support that a true popular revolution would have had. We cannot argue with history. The American Revolution persevered over long odds because the cause was worthy, the CSA failed because the cause was unworthy.

The presence of many brave and honorable hearts in the army of the CSA does not change the hard facts.
