BOTHELL – Fullback Luke Jones scored on a 10-yard run, to end a nine-overtime game that was the longest in Washington high-school football history and is believed to have tied the national record.

Bothell's 43-40 victory Saturday over Pasco at Pop Keeney Stadium in the quarterfinal round of the Class 4A playoffs, puts the Cougars (11-1) in the semifinals at the Tacoma Dome next weekend.

Wow...9 overtimes. Is it 10 minute quarters in WA high school games? That must've been one exhausting night for players and fans.

Hey- high school football is the best level of the sport- pure spirit and energy. It's amazing how the NFL pales in comparison.

BTW- not to brag, but my 16 year-old was named to Ohio PTC All- County Team- not to brag. Or boast. Or live vicariously.

Well, ok, maybe a little vicariously.

That's awesome. By all means - boast away. What position does he play and what were his stats?

TE- can't get the HS stats page to come up but he had three td's ( in heavy traffic).

To all- if you haven't experienced HS football, you haven't experienced football. Man, I'm gonna miss those fantastic friday nights- all over America, in every small town, under small stadium lights the real game is played.

Wow, indeed! Bet those players were pooped!

I graduated from Pasco High in the 1970s, back when there were only 3 high schools in the area, and high school sports were big. (Yes, we did have football way back then, but I believe they used leather helmets ;-p )
