In a fairy-tale setting, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes exchanged wedding vows Saturday in a glowing 15th-century castle in this medieval lakeside town.
The evening ceremony was performed by a Scientology minister in front of more than 150 relatives and friends, the couple's publicists said.

I'm surprised that they went through with it. Do they think that the large expenditures and A-List guest list will give it credibility?

They appear to have a large, hairy, Japanese newborn. Strange.

The National Enquirer says that another baby is on the way. Of course, The National Enquirer isn't a giant of credibility, but neither is CBS News.

"They appear to have a large, hairy, Japanese newborn. Strange."
Well, here is a description of a Ravenna monster [1513] from a contemporary chronicle:
"Another great wonder was seen in the city of Ravenna, where a monster was born with a horn on his head, the wings of a bat, one foot like a bird of prey, the other like a human foot. It had an eye on its knee, and was of both sexes! It had a mark of 'Y" on its breast, and an appearance of a cross, with a crescent beneath - which signs, according to my lords the philosophers and prognosticators, signify many things!" [Monstrelet chronicle, 3, 229].
So, let my lords the scientology philosophers interpret their "large, hairy Japanese newborn" as well. Indeed, in comparison with the Ravenna one it looks like they got off easily.

I really, really don't care about stuff like this.
I don't mind your ping list, but can you take me off if you ping stuff if they are about celeb stuff.
To: Clintonfatigued
Considering what's going on in the world, this is ridiculous. I could care less what these two never never land types do.
To: zbigreddogz
I don't normally ping on celeb stuff, only when they're highly unusual and amusing (and this marriage is the biggest joke of the year).

...and this marriage is the biggest joke of the year.I heard on the radio yesterday, the ceremony was to be performed by a Scientology "minister" and that Italy does not recognize the marriage.
Sounds to me its a "non-sanctioned" union if that is the case.

You have to pick on a baby? She is a very adorable pretty little girl to me.
To: Irisshlass
I'm not picking on her - she is cute. She just looks too big and too hairy to be a newborn to me. Oh, and she's Japanese, and neither Cruise nor Holmes are Japanese.

Picking? I have not even seen the photo. I took the HitmanLV's description at face value, and tried to put it in a historical context. You, as a lord/lady scientology philosopher, provided an interpretation "a very adorable pretty little girl". The point was, though, that you were supposed to find what she signifies, not what she is.

Uhm--I will bet she had a sperm donor since he might not be her type if you know what I mean.
Fox News kept saying today that they exchanged bizarre vows. I wish they would elaborate on that.

Could be fitting for a TomKat scientology wedding though. :)
