Police dogs are treated as officers. They have an officer down.
I love dogs and have 2 of my own but A DOG IS A DOG ,, unless you can show me where a dog has the same intellect as an officer and has passed the same written exams I am completely against considering them a humans equal... hell even the cops don't really believe that since they sent the dog in to his death just to bait this perp... The abuse of the legal system must stop..why are dogs considered PROPERTY if it's my dog and elevated to sainthood if it's owned by a gov't agency?
I can't tell you that. You have to ask the local PD. But I kind of understand this mentality. Cops take it pretty hard when a K9 officer dies. Also, I've got a couple of friends that'd risk their life to save a pet. Then there are the stories of people who die trying to save dogs.
