John Edwards buys Playstation 3 from Wal-Mart after bashing it posted at 6:41 pm on November 16, 2006 by Ian Send to a Friend | regular view
Former Senator and failed candidate for Vice-President John Edwards obtained the new video game system Playstation 3 from his local Wal-Mart today:
Just like the millions of Americans who turn to their neighborhood Wal-Mart for their holiday shopping needs, Wal-Mart announced today that former Sen. John Edwards is seeking to be one of the first to get a Sony PlayStation 3, one of the most coveted holiday gift items this Christmas season.
Last summer Edwards spoke at a Wake Up Wal-Mart bashing the retail giant:
We want every single consumer in America, every person in America, to know that if they walk into a Wal-Mart, that first of all their tax dollars are subsidizing Wal-Mart employees. Their tax dollars are helping provide health care for Wal-Mart employees, because Wal-Marts not doing it. Their tax dollars are going to provide housing and food stamps for Wal-Mart employees, Mr. Edwards told a crowd of 400 at Hill House. What is wrong with this picture?
Edwards knocking of Wal-Mart isnt just a one-time thing, but a hobby for him. In fact, just yesterday he was at another Wake Up Wal-Mart event, again bashing the company.
Townhalls Mary Katharine Ham has a picture of Edwards at an August Wake Up Wal-Mart event.

It must be the WM account number at PRN.
I'm still having difficulty wrapping my brain around it if it is true.........it just flies in the face of everything I've known and practiced in regard to press releases.
It could be, it could be.
WOW!
$$$ 7,000.00 BUCKS on ebay!!! WOW!!!!
Thanks.
Much better !
LOL, I think yours went to sleep!!
Bizarre is the word!
It just hit me that you posted about them d/c their yard goods. I don't sew much, but that would be tragic! They have really good prints for crafts at $3.97 whereas Joann would charge about $2.00 a yard more!
On the Drudge Report this morning the Edwards / Walmart story was reported . . and, predictably Edwards' office acknowledged the little "misunderstanding". Edwards blamed it on a young volunteer in his office who just didn't know any better. What ever happened to "the buck stops here"? I guessed he would blame Elizabeth or one of his kids, but the young, green office volunteer can take the heat even better it would seem.
Wow. We tried to cut the guy a break.....still can't believe that the Walmart press release was done by the people normally responsible for press releases.

Ill have to eat my words.
Looks like we're all eating alphabet soup this AM.
So it turned out to be true, eh? I agree w/ you about the 'people normally responsible for press releases'. Doesn't read like it came out of the PR Dept.
And so, the story gets better:
My wife, Elizabeth, wanted to get a Playstation3 for my young children. She mentioned it in front of one of my staff people," Edwards said. "That staff person mentioned it in front of a volunteer who said he would make an effort to get one.
While Edwards is out complaining about low wage Wal-mart, one of his NO-wage staffers is slogging it out as the Edwards' personal shopper.
And little Jack Edwards is acting like a typical rich kid bully:
In the call, he repeated a story about his son Jack disapproving of a classmate buying sneakers at Wal-Mart.
The Edwards' need to put the kid in one of those snobbish private schools so the poor little thing can avoid coming into contact w/ Wal-Mart shopping riff-raff.
"If a 6-year-old can figure it out, America can definitely figure this out," Edwards said.
(But apparently not the NO-Wage Edwards' 'volunteers'.)
he is an attention whore, just like all the other dems.
The fact it was a no-wage staffer is just priceless, when you think about his calling for WM to do something about their labor standards, the same day this no-wage staffer calls them...........just priceless.
publicity.
Who needs a PS3 when we've got these goofy Democrats to keep us entertained?
Excellent point!!!!!!!!
