I was considering a move to the Raleigh/Durham area (like everybody else in NJ, but that's a topic for another thread...). After reading about this case, I crossed Durham off my list. There are a lot of beautiful old houses available in that town, but why would I volunteer to move to a town that would re-elect somebody like Nifong?

Actually, Durham is a lot like Newark.

Don't.
Other parts of NC are supposedly still great places to live.
I didn't live in those other places, though, so I can't confirm that with actual experience.
Native North Carolinians (of any color) are among the finest people you will ever meet.
You won't actually encounter very many of "them" in the Raleigh/Cary/Durham area.
All that said, Nifong and the national MSM targeted three young men in a malicious persecution scheme, for which I sincerely pray they themselves will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Women, including exotic dancers and prostitutes, suffer rape in our society. It is an extremely serious crime, and rapists should be prosecuted and IMHO,if convicted, be sentenced to spend the rest of their lives in prison. An obviously false claim of rape endangers every woman, and subsequently, fewer actual rape victims will choose to subject themselves to the scrutiny of "law" and the "media" to attain justice. I have followed this "case" from the beginning, since I was a local at the time the initial allegations were made. Many people involved should be prosecuted, convicted, and sent away to serve long prison terms. IMHO, none of the above include three white college Lacrosse players.

Right on gridlock! I live just over the Durham County line in Chapel Hill and my advice to anyone...ANYONE...is to stay away from Durham. They like to call them selves the City of Medicine (because of Duke Medical Center). Around here we jokingly refer to Durham as...The City of "Emergency" Medicine.
