I've got to go to the library to read about this. I don't understand how oxidation of an organic gas (isoprene) creates a particle (aerosol). They say the same thing happens for sulfur in DMS, and I know that SO2 aerosols in the stratosphere block incoming sunlight (which I've said blithely for years), but aerosol implies particles, and SO2 is a gas. I'm missing something fundamental here, I think.
