I have heard my dad, and the best man in mom and dad's wedding talk about this storm. They were college students who were working offshore for the summer, and rode out the storm on a ship shaped drilling rig pulled up in Sabine Pass.

"The so-called hurricane party in Mississippi never happened, but that legend still persist to this day." That's strange. I saw a documentary about the storm and party and one of the participants was the only survivor of that party.

Camille was like Andrew - smaller in size but intensely powerful. I read that the instruments at Keesler AFB in Biloxi tracked sustained winds of 190 mph for three hours.
