Just saw this at during an episode of American Eats. Commercial showed a kid performing in a school play about the pilgrims and he talked about how the pilgrims "stole the indians food and robbed their graves." Didn't even talk about the good they did in the commercial. It comes out on 11/19 at 8 eastern.

I am waiting for the stories about the homeless Thanksgiving this year.
Ain't holding my breath. Everybody know there are no homeless while rats are in charge.

Stole the injuns food huh?
I keep forgetting about the highly advanced civilization, the buidings made of gold, the huge aquaducts and sewer systems and advanced agricultual irrigation systems these early Americans had built, that the pilgrims then smashed and stole, then caused the America's to slide back into the dark ages, where people had to ride horses and chop wood for heating and cooking because they destroy such an avanced society.

It's probably based in "Mayflower", which was a hell of a read. The book covered everything from the Puritans in England and Holland , through the crossing, and up through King Philip's War. I learned a lot from that book, including the incidents of grave despoliation and food cache robbing on Cape Cod, as well as Massasoit's reasons for being so helpful to the Pilgrims.

The food and grave robbing come right out of William Bradford's journal ~ in fact, the local Indians had died in a plague. They even found a dead Frenchman, most likely one of John Smith's agents sent to assist them in setting up after their landing.

True but knowing History Channel, they won't say anything positive about the Pilgrims.

Anyway, the Pilgrims were merely Fourth on the Thanksgiving Hit Parade.
I think there's a place in Texas that claims an event in the 1500s, and I know the people at St. Sauveur (Maine) claim first.
Virginia claims third at Jamestown, and these guys were just fourth.
I think they're better known because of Bradford's Journal as well as the Mayflower Compact.
