2Co 4:6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
..........
2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
2Co 4:8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;
2Co 4:9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
2Co 4:10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.

Lord, always we come to you in weakness, vessels of clay.
Strengthen our physical bodies and heal those that are broken or diseased.
We ask you for comfort for troubled minds, peace that passes understanding and the answers we are seeking.
Guide us Precious Father.
We know you won't be even a little late.
Rescue and help.
Let restoration come to us in the night.
We need a supernatural rest.
We rely upon you.
In you we Trust.
I ask to Glorify you in all things.
The LORD be Praised.

Now rest beneath night’s shadow
The woodland, field, and meadow,
The world in slumber lies;
But Thou, my heart, awake thee,
To prayer and song betake thee;
Let praise to thy Creator rise.

The radiant sun hath vanished,
His golden rays are banished
By night, the foe of day;
But Christ, the Sun of gladness,
Dispelling all my sadness,
Within my heart holds constant sway.

The rule of day is over
And shining jewels cover
The heaven’s boundless blue.
Thus I shall shine in heaven,
Where crowns of gold are given
To all who faithful prove and true.

To rest my body hasteth,
Aside its garments casteth,
Types of mortality;
These I put off and ponder
How Christ will give me yonder
A robe of glorious majesty.

Lord Jesus, Who dost love me,
Oh, spread Thy wings above me
And shield me from alarm!
Though evil would assail me,
Thy mercy will not fail me:
I rest in Thy protecting arm.

My loved ones, rest securely,
For God this night will surely
From peril guard your heads.
Sweet slumbers may He send you
And bid His hosts attend you
And through the night watch o’er your beds.

Prayers still needed for Austin, 14-yo son of FReeper PhatHead. Perhaps you all already have been praying for him; I had somehow missed the many posts until tonight, so I was hesitant to use the ping list.

Prayer Request for Austin - age 14

Posted on 11/19/2006 11:04:04 PM CST by PhatHead

More than two years ago, I asked for your prayers for my son, who was undergoing treatment for a malignant brain tumor. His treatment at the time, though physically brutal, was successful. However, Austin's cancer has returned, and he will be going back into radiation and chemo soon - he had surgery last week.

This is so hard - he pretty much missed Middle School with this, and now here goes High School. Pray for him to enjoy college...

We will very much appreciate all of your prayers. Thanks you.

I just want to let you all know that the cancer has also spread to his spine. He begins chemotherapy Monday.

I just want to give you all a little bit of an update. Austin's feeling much better so far than he did the last time through chemo in 2004-05 - very little nausea. He has lost his hair already, though - his older brother and I shaved our heads, too. Sounds corny, I know. We did not do it last time, but he is older now, and was more upset about the hair loss than when he was 11. He enjoyed buzzing us.

His next treatment phase, sometime in the spring, will be much, much tougher than this one - he'll be in the hospital for at least a month.

Thank you all for your continued prayers - i know they mean a lot to Austin, and to me.

Pax Christi.
