Daily Light on the Daily Path
July 14
Morning
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly . . . in all wisdom.
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.Death and life are in the power of the tongue.The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.I believed, even when I spoke.
So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven.With the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Not by the martyrs death alone
The saint his crown in Heavn has won;
There is a triumph robe on high
For bloodless fields of victory.
What though he was not called to feel
The cross, or flame, or torturing wheel,
Yet daily to the world he died;
His flesh, through grace, he crucified.
What though nor chains, nor scourges sore,
Nor cruel beasts his members tore,
Enough if perfect love arise
For Christ a grateful sacrifice.
Lord, grant us so to Thee to turn
That we through life to die may learn,
And thus, when lifes brief day is oer,
May live with Thee forevermore.
O Fount of sanctity and love,
O perfect Rest of saints above,
All praise, all glory be to Thee
Both now and through eternity.
—Jean B. de Santeüil, 1686
Oh Heavenly Father, may our lives be thoroughly sanctified by your Grace poured into us.
Help us to be steadfast, still, comforted, patient in endurance, confidently trusting in your Truth and Love.
May every moment of this day be a Joy and rejoicing to you, most Holy and Loving Father.
May my life be a sweet offering to you.
You see me through the Blood of Jesus.
I have come in to your presence through the veil of His torn Body.
Let my heart be near to you today in all my ways.
I ask this in Jesus’s Mighty and Wonderful name.
