Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Good verses and a very good prayer, dear periwinkle. Thank you. Amen.

Glory to the Father! Thank you so much for this sharing, dear Knitting. Joy to the world! The LORD has come! Let earth receive her King! Let every heart prepare Him room! He desires that we be with Him where He is, and that we see His Glory, the Glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of Grace and Truth! From the Fullness of His Love we have all received one blessing after another!

I am blessed to find this thread! May the Holy Spirit move in a mighty way to meet each and every detail of every need represented here!

Please pray for my Dad who fell yesterday afternoon and broke his right femur. Our prayer is that he will either be miraculously healed, or else that he be able to recover sufficiently so that he can go back home. He has a collapsed lung and has been in a wheelchair for ~5 years, but has been able to be at home with my Mom. Thanks, and God Bless!

Exo 34:6 The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,
Exo 34:7 keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation."
..........
Psa 86:4 Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
Psa 86:5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
Psa 86:6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace.
............
Psa 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Psa 103:9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.
Psa 103:10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
Psa 103:11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
Psa 103:12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Psa 103:13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.

Oh Lord, we come before you this day, remembering your Mercies and that you are Faithful, always keeping your promise of salvation.
You have never failed, and will not leave us now.
Your right hand is full of Graciousness, and quick and strong to save.
What else do we need?
You have delivered and washed and fed us.
You lead us in the way we should go.
I offer you thanksgiving.
We ask for help for those who are in distress and trouble.
Send your comfort and help.
You see what lies ahead today.
Help us to stand in Faith.
You are good and your mercy endures forever.
Open our mouths in Truth today.

Psa 116:5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.
.........
Psa 119:132 Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your way with those who love your name.
..........
Psa 145:8 The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Psa 145:9 The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
Psa 145:10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your saints shall bless you!
Psa 145:11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power,
Psa 145:12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Psa 145:13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Amen

O in the morning as I rise up,
another day before me,
may my heart rise ever, ever up,
up to You, Lord of me.

Be my vision and my strong rock,
my rest and my way,
May my words be words of yours alone
as I walk, as I stay.

Your heart's the sheltering place,
all peace comes from You,
the rest for all the weary
ever springing anew.

O loving Lord,
You break the bonds of night
with Your loving word
that shines with Heaven's most excellent light.
Be our vision and our strong rock,
today and tonight.

Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luke 2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Mat 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
..........
Rom 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be conceited.
...........
Zep 3:12 But, I will leave in your midst a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the name of the LORD,

Jesus, You came in humility and lowliness, as a servant.
I ask for this humble and lowly spirit that will bring glory to God.
There is strength and joy in humility and meekness.
Help me to trust in you and rest in you.
Though people should rage all about me, let me have the peace and quietness that comes from confidence in you.
I want to have simplicity of faith like a child.

Mat 18:3 and said, "I assure you that unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Psa 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

Blest are the humble souls that see
Their emptiness and poverty;
Treasures of grace to them are giv’n,
And crowns of joy laid up in Heav’n.

Blest are the men of broken heart,
Who mourn for sin with inward smart;
The blood of Christ divinely flows,
A healing balm for all their woes.

Blest are the meek, who stand afar
From rage and passion, noise and war;
God will secure their happy state,
And plead their cause against the great.

Blest are the souls that thirst for grace
Hunger and long for righteousness;
They shall be well supplied, and fed
With living streams and living bread.

Blest are the pure, whose hearts are clean
From the defiling powers of sin;
With endless pleasure they shall see
A God of spotless purity.

Blest are the men of peaceful life,
Who quench the coals of growing strife;
They shall be called the heirs of bliss,
The sons of God, the God of peace.

Blest are the suff’rers who partake
Of pain and shame for Jesus’ sake;
Their souls shall triumph in the Lord;
Glory and joy are their reward.
--Isaac Watts, 1710

May the Father's gracious, compassionate healing come to your dad in Jesus Christ. Thank you for sharing your request - it is such an incredible, really indescribable blessing to get to participate in Christ's work as He sees and meets our needs - truly, we are His Body on the earth, and we know His Joy in the Father by the Holy Spirit in us and through us to the world! Glory to God in the Highest! Peace to all resting in His Favor! (Isaiah 30:15)

Ray Vander Laan and Focus on the Family have produced a series of DVDs, teaching the Scriptures in the Holy Land. One of these is called, "The True Christmas Story: Herod the Great, Jesus the King." In this Ray demonstrates through cultural and written history, archeology, the very places as well as the words of the Bible the great disparity in both appearance and Reality between Herod, the earthly ruler, and Jesus, the King of Glory.

While Herod to all appearances was the more powerful, living in a luxurious fortress, surrounded by acolytes and memorials, with one decree killing hundreds, Jesus came to a dark, smelly, dirty cave and was laid in an animal's feeding trough; His only admirers were his simple parents, some smelly shepherd children who were outcasts in their society, and a group of stargazers from foreign lands - and angels, whom most never saw or heard. Yet Jesus' Kingdom and Temple are ever being built, and Herod's lie in ruin. The most Herod is remembered for (if he is remembered at all) is the killing of the innocents, and he has no followers today. Jesus, who did not appear in majesty, reigns ever more powerfully and gloriously as each day goes by - "of His Kingdom and Righteousness there shall be no end." (Isaiah 9:7) Reality is not bound by or married to appearances! Yes, man judges by the outward, but God sees very differently; we must have His eyes to see what is real and true - O Come, El Roi, our God of Seeing! For eyes to see are a gift from Thee alone!

Your meditation on humility, periwinkle, along with Luke 2:8-11, Rte66, brought these things to my mind. Thank you for every reminder and all this Glory to God through His Word and Truth, through prayer and proclamation and preaching, through the Name above all names, the King of kings and Lord of lords, our born of a virgin, crucified, buried, risen, ascended, ruling, soon coming Messiah!

Hos 13:14 From the hand of Sheol I do ransom them, From death I redeem them, Where is thy plague, O death? Where thy destruction, O Sheol? .....
..........
1Co 15:54 and when this corruptible may have put on incorruption, and this mortal may have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the word that hath been written, `The Death was swallowed up--to victory;
1Co 15:55 where, O Death, thy sting? where, O Hades, thy victory?'
..........
Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken.
Isa 25:9 It will be said on that day, "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation."

Father, Thank you for this new day.
One more day to know you better, to serve you and to love you.
You have always promised to redeem us.
From the beginning you made known your Salvation and Redemption.
Thank you for the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world, for us, who deserve nothing like this.
Your love is stunning, breath taking, awesome, incomprehensible.
Your Grace is unmerited, unlimited, providing, cleansing, revealing the Son to us all day, every day that we seek you.
We give you praise.
Help us keep our eyes on the Prize today.
You see what this day holds.
Help us to Glorify you in all we do.
I ask this in the Name above all names.
