NOW THE DAY IS OVER ...

Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh,
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky.

Now the darkness gathers,
Stars begin to peep,
Birds, and beasts and flowers
Soon will be asleep.

Jesus, give the weary
Calm and sweet repose;
With Thy tenderest blessing
May mine eyelids close.

Grant to little children
Visions bright of Thee;
Guard the sailors tossing
On the deep, blue sea.

Comfort those who suffer,
Watching late in pain;
Those who plan some evil
From their sin restrain.

Through the long night watches
May Thine angels spread
Their white wings above me,
Watching round my bed.

When the morning wakens,
Then may I arise
Pure, and fresh, and sinless
In Thy holy eyes.

Glory to the Father,
Glory to the Son,
And to Thee, blest Spirit,
While all ages run.

What a Blessing and Peaceful Haven this Thread is, and our Lord's Touch is Upon this Place.

Praise ye the LORD!
Praise, O ye servants of the LORD,
Praise the name of the LORD.
Blessed be the name of the LORD,
From this time forth and for evermore.
From the rising of the sun,
Unto the going down of the same,
The LORD's name is to be praised.
The LORD is high above all nations,
And his glory above the heavens.
Who is like unto the LORD our God,
Who dwelleth on high,
Who humbleth himself to behold
The things that are in heaven,
And in the earth!
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,
And lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
That he may set him with princes,
Even with the princes of his people.
He maketh the barren woman to keep house,
And to be a joyful mother of children.
Praise ye the LORD. (Ps.113)

You are Great, O Lord our God, and we Give to You our Highest Praise. Thank You for this Fellowship of Believers, and for the Movement of Your Spirit of Grace. Oh, Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is So Good! (Ps.118:29) We Worship You, our Merciful Lord of Love. Be Magnified throughout the Ages of Eternity to Come. In the Name of our Most Blessed God, our Savior-King, amen.

Light

The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God John 1:9-13 RSV

Light blazoning across the dark void,
starlight,
burning dust,
a city on the hill, shining.

Light captured in the laughter of a child.

Light revealing the imperfection
the crack in the steel,
the flaw in the stone,
the darkness in the heart,
the delusion of desire.

Light dancing in the night in celebration.

Light showing the way in the darkness
revealing the pitfalls,
revealing the wrongs,
revealing the dark heart that destroys.

Light born under a star in a stable

Light penetrating the darkness of death
there on the hill, suspended between heaven and earth,
in what looks like a victory of darkness..
Light in an empty tomb
as the Light reveals the power of God,
shattering chains.

Light reaching out to bring us home.

Pegita, In all the time I have sung this hymn, I never remember that particular verse! What a blessing. I am singing this here now as I prepare to go to bed for the night, knowing that God is watching over and caring for each and every one of us. Good night dear Prayer warriors........ Polly

Lord, I really want to see this with my eyes. I have seen people rejoicing in huge numbers at a baseball game, shouting, glad......I want to see them do this for You. I pray you will surely turn this nation.

Where is Nehemiah? Bring him forward.

In the name of Jesus.

Yep...I write a lot of religious poetry.

This thread is nice because we come from different religious backgrounds, but we are all bound by our love of Jesus...

Morning Prayer
This is the day the Lord has made -
Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

O Lord,
thank you for the gift of another morning.
teach us to see that
each dawn is a time to celebrate,
each evening to reflect,
each moment to cherish -
So often we forget how precious these moments are -
how brief is life,
how long is eternity -
and so much work to do in your name.

O Lord,
thank you for the gift of another morning -
another chance to be your hands on earth,
another chance to say the words I always meant to say,
smile the smile that lightens the load
of a frazzled friend,
a chance to actually help that poor one,
to give up something
to help another,
to let you know Lord how grateful I am
that you would care,
reach out and lead me home.

O Lord,
thank you for the gift of another morning -
help me Lord, to use it as you want me to.
In your hands, I commend my self this day,
and no matter if the day is sad,
or hard,
or unnerving,
or joyful,
or peaceful,
or exciting,
let me find you always,
holding my hand and leading me closer to you.

Amen.

Help, LORD; for there is no longer any that is godly;
for the faithful have vanished from among the sons of men.
Every one utters lies to his neighbor;
with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
May the LORD cut off all flattering lips,
the tongue that makes great boasts,
those who say, "With our tongue we will prevail,
our lips are with us; who is our master?"

"Because the poor are despoiled,
because the needy groan,
I will now arise," says the LORD;
"I will place him in the safety for which he longs."

The promises of the LORD are promises that are pure,
silver refined in a furnace on the ground,
purified seven times.
Do thou, O LORD, protect us,
guard us ever from this generation.
On every side the wicked prowl,
as vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Psalm 12

The gathering clouds, with aspect dark,
A rising storm presage;
O! to be hid within the ark,
And sheltered from its rage!

See the commissioned angel frown!
That vial in his hand,
Filled with fierce wrath, is pouring down
Upon our guilty land!

Ye saints, unite in wrestling prayer;
If yet there may be hope;
Who knows but Mercy yet may spare,
And bid the angel stop!

Already is the plague begun,
And fired with hostile rage;
Brethren, by blood and interest one,
With brethren now engage.

Peace spreads her wings, prepared for flight,
And war, with flaming sword,
And hasty strides draws nigh, to fight
The battles of the Lord.

The first alarm, alas, how few,
While distant, seem to hear!
But they will hear, and tremble too,
When God shall send it near.

So thunder, o’er the distant hills,
Gives but a murm’ring sound,
But as the tempest spreads, it fills,
And makes the welkin sound.

May we, at least, with one consent,
Fall low before the throne
With tears the nation’s sins lament,
The churches, and our own.

The humble souls who mourn and pray,
The Lord approves and knows;
His mark secures them in the day
When vengeance strikes his foes.

I waited patiently for the LORD;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the desolate pit,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.

Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after false gods!
Thou hast multiplied, O LORD my God,
thy wondrous deeds and thy thoughts toward us;
none can compare with thee!
Were I to proclaim and tell of them,
they would be more than can be numbered.

Psalm 40:1-5

2Co 1:3 Heartfelt thanks be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ--the Father who is full of compassion and the God who gives all comfort.
2Co 1:4 He comforts us in our every affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction by means of the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Thank you Lord for this new Day. Thank you for the comfort of fellowship and the assurance of Hope that all things are working together for good for them that love you and are called according to your purposes.

This day is yours. We are your servants. Set a path, guide our steps, provide and protect our families. Thank you l
Lord for your call to pray and seek you.

Psa 27:8 You have said, "Seek my face." My heart says to you, "Your face, LORD, do I seek."

Now may the words our my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Oh Lord, this is about Truth that we pray.......

Psa 43:1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
Psa 43:2 For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
Psa 43:3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
Psa 43:4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.
Psa 43:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Father you have revealed your Truth.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Make us holy and able to know the truth. He is a Person.

Joh 14:6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

There are lies in the land that grieve our souls to bitterness. Please let your Truth be exalted and victorious as in days past.

Psa 138:2 I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

Rev 19:13 and he is arrayed with a garment covered with blood, and his name is called, The Word of God.

Lord, please bring forth your Truth in this land.
In the name of Jesus I ask this and wait hopefully.

Warfare

Father hear us as we cry. We agree with your perfect will and ask that you help us as we pray.

Eph 6:10 As to the rest, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might;
Eph 6:11 put on the whole armour of God, for your being able to stand against the wiles of the devil,
Eph 6:12 because we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;
Eph 6:13 because of this take ye up the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to resist in the day of the evil, and all things having done--to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about in truth, and having put on the breastplate of the righteousness,
Eph 6:15 and having the feet shod in the preparation of the good-news of the peace;
Eph 6:16 above all, having taken up the shield of the faith, in which ye shall be able all the fiery darts of the evil one to quench,
Eph 6:17 and the helmet of the salvation receive, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the saying of God,
Eph 6:18 through all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--
Young's Literal Translation

Father we look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith....

1Sa 17:47 and that all this assembly may know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hand."

So Lord, let this be the song of our nation...

Psa 18:27 For you save a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down.
Psa 18:28 For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness.
Psa 18:29 For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.
Psa 18:30 This God--his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
Psa 18:31 For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?--
Psa 18:32 the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless.
Psa 18:33 He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.
Psa 18:34 He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Psa 18:35 You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any incentive of love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

who, though he was in the form of God,
did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied himself,
taking the form of a servant,
being born in the likeness of men.
And being found in human form
he humbled himself and became obedient unto death,
even death on a cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him
and bestowed on him
the name which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:1-11

Sic Deus Dilexit Mundum - For God so loved the World.

For God so loved the world,
the Son emptied himself and became man.
For God so loved the world.
he became poor and humble.
For God so loved the world,
he preached and healed and loved and prayed
even as people misunderstood him and often turned away.
For God so loved the world,
he let himself suffer agony in the garden,
knowing full well the sinfulness of man.
For God so loved the world,
he let himself be betrayed and denied and deserted
by those closest to him.
For God so loved the world,
he allowed himself to be abused and mocked
by those who should have given justice.
For God so loved the world,
he allowed himself to be scourged dreadfully,
for our sakes.
For God so loved the world,
he accepted the crown of thorns.
For God so loved the world,
he bore his cross willingly.
For God so loved the world,
he was nailed to the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.
For God so loved the world
he suffered and died in agony that we might live.
For God so loved the world
He arose on the third day, breaking the chains of death,
for our salvation.

Alleluia!

The darkness seems so deep, my Lord,
And the way seems hard to find,
The rocks' sharp edges cut my feet.
As I grope forward, nearly blind.
And yet your light burns in my heart,
and that alone can ease my mind.

The light you give is my one true guide
As I wander across the land
Your love's the strength that carries me on
Through the rock and burning sand
My manna in the wilderness
Comes from your loving hand.

And when I meet another soul
Fed with your loving light
The darkness seems less heavy,
Less solemn is the night,
O may I spread the light you give
to make this lost gloom bright.

Like lanterns in the midnight, Lord,
Each soul that looks to you,
To bring the touch of heaven's light
to a world of loss and rue,
O may our witness light the night
to show your love is true.

O Light of Heaven, bring the day
When midnight fades to light,
And shadows flee and disappear
Beneath your loving sight.
And dawn breaks through the sin-sick sky
all brokenness made right.
