The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Father of Lights, please have mercy to Adam, to Misty and her husband who so desperately needs to know you, to Crystal and all who surround and support these in their great hour of trial. We lift their names to Thee for Thou dost already know and are intimately acquainted with all their ways, with all that concerns them, and Thou alone will do the work: send workers in Your Strength, dear Father, for Thou Alone Art Good, and this we know through Yeshua, Your Beloved Only Son, in Whose Wonderful Name we come, thanking You that we may participate in releasing Your Power, Your Blessing, Your Love into this terribly dark world. Be exalted among all these things, dear God, that men may know Thee and worship Thee which is our highest good.

Many thanks, Knitting.

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Heb 11:2 For by it the people of old received their commendation.
Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Heb 11:32 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets--
Heb 11:33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Heb 11:34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.

Lord of All, you have made us more than conquerors, overcomers. By faith in your love we stand. By faith in your sacrifice for our sins, we stand. Help us today to walk with you, to reach out your love to those we meet, to confidently exalt the Name of Jesus and his excellence, to rest in your finished work, to rise up with wings like eagles, to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint.
Thank you for the blessing of our fellowship in prayer.
We ask your comfort for those waiting on you today for something they have not experienced before that leaves them uncertain.
You are not a God that hides from those who love you. We draw near to you in assurance that you draw near. With Jesus, today, we know that we can do all things that are required of us.

Psa 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Psa 34:9 Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!
Psa 34:10 The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Amen

To: Pegita; All
I want to thank you so much for your prayers. I can see how God is working and maybe you can see it, too.

Husband came over on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, while he and oldest child were sitting on the patio, a large white dove-like bird was sitting on the roof next door to us facing in our direction. Our oldest daughter took a picture of it.

On Sunday, since I was too sick to take the kids to church, oldest daughter called her dad to take them. I said I doubted he would take them but I was wrong. She called him and he said yes, he would take them. She then asked him if he would go to church with her and he asked why and she said he was her favorite parent. Husband asked if mom heard her day that and of course she said yes, but that she did not care. He told her that he would attend church with her someday but not this day.

Much later in the day, I told him I heard that conversation. He thought I was coaching her on what to say to him and I let him know that I do not coach them, they say what they want to say to him and it is their words, not mine. Then I asked him if if occurred to him that maybe his kids miss him.

Later than this, he took the girls and they went grocery shopping. He hasn't done that since he moved out! I thanked him and then he went his merry way.

He is coming over on Tuesday night, will be here with us on Thanksgiving, and will mow the lawn and help the kids decorate the Christmas tree next weekend.

One more little note: The girls told me that when he put the groceries in the trunk, he had what appeared to be all of his stuff in there--clothes, etc. and even his work clothes, they said.

I find this odd.

I think the court thing has him coming out of the darkness so to speak.

Psa 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.........

Joh 6:32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
Joh 6:33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

Thank You Lord.

Heavenly Father, it is unto You that we return with praise and thanksgiving, for You are working in the heart of this wayward husband and father. Let the Spirit of Conviction fall so greatly upon his heart that he can do nothing but turn to You for cleansing and healing, seeking Your blessed forgiveness and the forgiveness of his wife and children. We ask that You do a mighty work in their lives, O Lord, and that You would lead them in the way they should go, for You ever seek to guide and guard Your precious lambs.

Especially watch over Mom's health in these days of anxiety and stress ... grant unto her rest by night and strength by day, that she would be able to accomplish the tasks at hand. Give confidence to their children, for You are the Mender of Broken Hearts and Shattered Lives ... may their trust and faith be fully in You.

To You, O Lord, be all Glory, Laud, and Honor, now and forevermore, Amen ...

Psa 65:1... Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion, and to you shall vows be performed.
Psa 65:2 O you who hears prayer, to you shall all flesh come.

Father, we come before you weary and finished in our strength for the day. We are glad that you hear us.
Psa 65:3 When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions.

Thank you for forgiving me my shortcomings and failures and sins today. I know I am washed by the Blood of Jesus when I repent.

Psa 65:4 Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!

I praise you for your Goodness and Mercy and Light. We rejoice in your presence.

Psa 65:5 By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas;
Psa 65:6 the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might;
Psa 65:7 who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples,
Psa 65:8 so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

Joyful, joyful, we adore thee......

Psa 65:9 You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it.
Psa 65:10 You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth.
Psa 65:11 You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
Psa 65:12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy,
Psa 65:13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.

You always provide for us. Please give us rest tonight, and when we awake, we will gladly receive our daily bread. You give us Abundant Life. There is no lack for us because your hand is open to us, giving us exactly what we need, when we need it. Thank you Lord. We are in your keeping.
In Jesus' name we rest.
Amen

Precious Lord, Take my Hand

Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, help me stand;
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn,
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light,
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, linger near;
When my life is almost gone,
Hear my cry, hear my call,
Hold my hand, lest I fall;
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

My beloved aunt had a sudden heart attack and is in intensive care in a California hospital. She seems to be out of the woods but she is in her '70's and her family's history is not good with this. She has had a sister (my mother) and a brother-in-law both killed by hospital care. I want her to get out of that place as soon as possible. She is a gem and will put a good thumbprint on this earth in her remaining years.

Evening Prayer Ping!

(Life has gotten crazy, hectic and a touch overwhelming...please remember my husband, my sons and me at this time...)

It was no clean thing, this,
no easy walk into that dark night
filled with memorable soundbites
and photo op moments,
soldiers in their dress uniforms
and dignitaries in their solemn regalia.

No clean thing, this,
filled with the sweat of pain
and the taste of blood,
the dust of the road,
the tears of grief,
the reality of betrayal,
the weight of sin.

No calm thing, this,
filled instead with noise:
the noise of mockery, bitter and undeserved,
punctuated with spittle and blows.
the noise of pain:
the slap of the flagellum against bare skin,
the sound of hammers driving spikes into wood
through human flesh,
cries ripped unbidden from the depths of the gut,
as flesh protested the hot sudden agony
that would not go away.
The noise of expediency: "Crucify him yourselves."

No easy walk this,
rushed through the crowded streets
beneath a crushing weight,
stripped of everything that matters most to man,
standing naked in the light of day
bruised and bloody and battered,
with nothing left to give
except the acceptance of pain,
except the final acts of love,
surrender
death.

Help me see, O Jesus,
beyond the pretty pictures
and soundbites
and images
of how God descended to death
in the dirty, miserable realness of it,
of man's willingness to be inhuman,
and you did this knowing how dark we can be,
and how unloving we can be,
and how we cling to the dark in spite of your light,
and you still chose to go.

Alleluia!

KAC
