As a Conservative, I want to know why the hell hasn't the ineffective Republican National Comittee Chair Ken Mehlman not resigned from his position following the loses in the House and Senate.
It was Mehlman job to find and craft the message of the party and find good quality Conservative candidate, but Mehlman used his time trying to get along and apply to liberals and their fringe groups and not the base of our party,
So it is time to throw Mehlman under the bus and move on.
I believe that our party needs a younger Chairman 30-50 years old who can find young conservatives to run for national, state and local office as bring new blood into the party. Mehlman allowed the party to get fat and lazy with no direction and thus we lost the election because the base stayed at home, now it is time to send Mehlman home!!!
We need a chair who will take on the left, label them for what they are and prepare a group of Conservative Candidates and Presidential Nominees, who will put us back in the majority with mass numbers, while putting forth the Conservative Ideas that won us the majority 12 years ago.
Steele would be great. My family turned out for him on the Eastern Shore. They all thought he is a very impressive man.
Karl Rove was the cause of our defeat.
Some specifics would go a long way. (Especially since you've been with FR for only 2 months and are already dogging Rove)
You've been dogging Mehlman, who seems like a decent fellow.
Why must you scapegoat him for what was obviously a screw up from lots of people, starting with GWB, Hastert, and Foley, and lots of pork barrel spending. If GWB had dumped Rumsfeld a month ago, we would still control the Senate.
It has already been reported on Hugh Hewitt that Mehlman is leaving the RNC to work on the Giuliani campaign.
Tell him to step up. An educated and articulate man of color who has achieved something in life would be a fine man to lead the RNC. If we lose some crackers in the process so be it. Time for a new direction and especially by someone with his resume.
Iraq
Lack of message
Bad campaigns
Unfavorable ratings for POTUS
Less liberal candidates
Iraq
MSM
Lack od effectiveness by Congress and Senate
RINOs
Iraq
Etc
I watched Mehlman in several interviews and was astounded by his inability to use the English language properly. Like the typical NBA or NFL athlete with a microphone in this face who utters a minute of ''you know'' interspersed with a couple of intelligible words, so too did Chairman Mehlman wear out ''incredible'' and various other hackned, meaninglessly trite words and phrases while failing to communicate anything other than his lack of articulation.
Does a double "why the hell" make a "why in heaven"?
I am pissed at what happened, sorry.
I honestly don't think Mehlman had any great effect pro or con regarding the election.
Who was it who decided to support Chafee in the primary election? Was it Mehlman or Rove?
I suppose Rove screwed us up. Bush also screwed us up by lying to us and saying he was going to keep Rumsfeld until the end of his presidency. Cheney also lied to us about that.
9pm Mehlman resignation announced and Nina Easton predicts Steele. Of course, you can call your friend and find out, I just have TV LOL
Apparently so he can continue to send me e-mails.
You've got me confused with someone else. I haven't criticized Mehlman at all. I happen to credit him along with Rove (to a lesser degree) for our election success in 2004. I also have a tendency to want to keep those the left despise. But to me, it seems the Dems have successfully used the media to turn us against some of our own (Rove, Delay, Rumsfeld, etc.)
