McCain, Guliani and the Governator: definitely not the coservative's favorites...but without their unwavering support in 2004, I think we'd be talking about President Kerry right now.

"How I stopped posting Vanities and learned to use Free Republic responsibly;

I rarely post vanities, and I categorized this as a vanity.

Don't you have enough intelligence to filter out vanities in your "preferences" if you don't want to see them?

Given the unsavory hoice between RINOsS and DINOs I'll take RINOS every time.

RINO=Republican In Name Only
DINO=Democrat In Name Only

I'll take Zell Miller over Lincoln Chafee anyday.

Look at who managed that win: Emanual; Begala; Carville; do you think they did it for the Democrats?

McCain does not look healthy. Hubby and I were watching McCain on FOXNews last night, and I don't think he should run in 2008. For the good of the party. He needs to find a candidate and get behind that person. And he was absolutely correct in his assessment of what cost Republicans the majority. Republicans needs to get back to the message of President Reagan. (and then there's the campaign finance nonsense that McCain spearheaded, but that's another story.)

Don't forget that McCain and Tony Atlas are going to clean up boxing.
They want all boxers to be made to join the teamster union.

Do you honestly believe the next Republican to run for Santorum's seat in 6 years is going to run as a staunch conservative? That person will run to the middle so fast it will make your head spin.

You can't put toothpaste back in the tube once people get used to socialism ala what the Democrats will give them.

Get used to France-lite in the United States.

Haven't you heard, the 2008 republican ticket will be Tancredo/Buchanan.

The 2006 message is loud and clear, the republican party must toss out the rinos and run only true conservatives.

McCain has issues with the First Amendment. I consider that a major violation of his right to be called a conservative or a Republican. Anyway, he is on meds now, and unfit for command.

Well then, I hope you enjoy President Hillary.

There are times when you have to vote for someone you don't like. I don't like my RINO congressional candidates here in NYC, but I vote for them every 2 years because, if by some fluke they were elected, they'd vote for the Republican nominee for Speaker. That matters to me. Big picture matters very much to me.

Rudy Giuliani, for those who don't live in New York, was the best Mayor of my lifetime, and I'm closer to 50 than I care to remember. He cleaned up the bums, the drug addicts, the porn. I disagree with him on quite a few issues, but I agree with him on enough that I would vote for him for President in a heartbeat.

There comes a time when one has to be pragmatic rather than zealous. The prospect of Hitlery as President is, IMO, one of those times.

You are sadly mistaken if you think the message the RNC got yesterday was to move to the right.

So far, I think everyone got whatever message they are prepared to hear, so I think you are certainly right about the RNC.

The social conservatives will blame the RINOs and the Libertarians. The Libertarians will blame the religious right. The Country Club Republicans will blame the Right to Lifers. The RNC will blame everyone but themselves.

Hopefully a few smart people will research the numbers and tell us what actually happened. My suspicion is that Republicans were energized but Democrats were even more energized, and the dumb middle listened to the talking heads or went with the old 6th-year motto, "Throw the bums out."

McCain 2008 would be Dole 1996, 'it's his turn'....and a loss.

"I have resigned myself to McCain as the 2008 nominee. "

Did McCain declare his candidacy?

Is he up for nomination?

Don't blame Conservatives for the dumb ass policies of the WH and our Republican Congress.
-----
Whoa. Real conservatives and the administration (including RINOs) are mutually exclusive. That is not an issue. What is an issue is that many conservatives DID VOTE DEMOCRAT in last nights' election. THAT is what is not acceptable, and certainly not an acceptable move to put radical leftists in place of inept Repubs. That move will hurt America badly -- just watch, especially if the Senate falls to the socialists, which it looks like it will, based on present numbers.

The WH and Congressional Repubs are responsible for the results of last night -- no two ways about it. The real downside is that the alternative is far worse. Far worse.

That's the fourth or fifth time I've seen a reference to the libertarians this morning.

Who's blaming them and what are they blaming them for..........LOL.
