It's quite simple. Bush abandoned his conservative base.

federal spending explosion, growth of government, IMMIGRATION!, Harriet Miers nomination, Religion of peace rhetoric, Fighting a war with half-measures, supporting losers like Lincoln Chafeee...


This is the Chemotherapy the GOP needs. Whether or the chemo is successful remains to be seen.

I'm fairly sure that the conservative base made up most of the people that were out there voting Republican. I believe that the news media played a large part in the size of the Democrats' win. The Democrats would have picked up seats in any event.

Regardless, this is still the same country it was on November 6. Remember that. There is no big change in the country, but in the composition of Congress.

Not now....not in this type of World.

With the MSM banging the dems. drum for a solid year, it would have taken an outright assault by Republican voters. Very sad day for America..sad indeed.
