Probably -- Allen was about the only credible electable candidate from the conservative side of the party.
I'm not counting Romney out. But he's more unknown, and it has to be seen how he 'plays in Peoria'. McCain is too old and in questionable health, but after last night, I think the GOP will close ranks behind whoever wins the nomination - even McCain. The presidency assumes a MUCH larger significance in 2008 given the fact that the 'Rats will control Congress.
