Are we allowed to say it now? Can we drop the happy warrior schtick? In the past six years, we've seen the deficit explode like never before in the history of the country. A flaming bra-burner nominated to the Supreme Court, only to be replaced by a (hopefully) stealth conservative. The most inept State Department in the history of the United States. (Clinton's wasn't incompetent; they were flat-out fifth columnists.) 20 million new illegal aliens, and barely-contained glee that the election-day losses mean we can welcome another 50 million in.

And I hate to say this, but when we won the war in Iraq, I was praying for my friend who was an MP, fearing for his safety in the dangerous house-to-house searches. And then they never came. So I put joyful trust that the military didn't need to do such a dangerous task. Then came the insurgency. And bold optimism. And more violence. And more bold optimism. But, um, after 3,000 of America's finest dead, it becomes plainly apparent that Rummy and Bush simply didn't realize that disarming the terrorists was necessary.

The term "bushbot" does not exactly grasp the reality of what happened. There was a strategy on this forum and in the party in general to protect the president from attack by conservatives for fear of weakening him in the war and in our effort to keep control of the Senate for the Supreme Court. Divided we fall is the truth.

However, it resulted in us not having an opposition voice to the liberal moves made by the President and essentially strangled all conservative juice. Conservative juice - ideas and voice is what won us the house and the senate to begin with. So if we were to remain loyal to the president, we were set to lose our conservative voice and leadership and so we lost power in the House and the Senate. When Rinos controlled the party before we were a minority. So we are back to being a minority because the president is a rino on many important issues (federal education, federal drug program, open borders and North American federal Union, spending, spending, spending)

Had we attacked rinos and Bush we would have made the party even weaker and given the Left comfort and power. By not standing up to rinos and Bush, we have given the Left power.

It was a no win situation for conservatives given the need to support the President during a war while the Democrat turncoats relentlessly attacked and betrayed. What you call the "Bushbots" lost but you would have lost, too, so maybe you should dismount the high horse you are riding.

Also it is time to stop shouting down conservatives for fear we will lose power. We lost power, folks, and it will get worse if we don't sidestep Bush and the Rinos and get a conservative team, agenda and voice in place before 2008.

Well, that is my two cents for what it is probably not worth much.

That you can see that means that you are not who I meant was a Bushbot. I saw what was going on, and was even a part of it. Now that the strategy has failed, and we have a lame duck president, a Democratic Congress, and a need to pick a new leader in the next two years, I was calling for us to finally challenge this strategy.

The Bushbots are those who still attack anyone who questions Bush as if though the questionner is an enemy.

I also don't to buy into that "religion of peace" crap spouted by our moron-in-chief.

Yes, and you're showing your great intellect having nothing more intelligent to say than to call a sitting president of your own party, supposedly, a moron. Real classy stuff there. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Frankly, you have no right to call yourself a Republican.

Obviously the president was acting out of a desire not to alienate Muslims worldwide and maybe for them to see we're not really the boogeymen out to launch another crusade against Islam which is what the jihadists have been telling them all along. Calling all Muslims a bunch of animals is fine for talk radio but it's not how a responsible Commander in Chief should talk. I guess the subtleties of international intercourse and discourse are behind your abilities.

At least Bush wasn't pushing to grant constitutional rights to terrorists like McCain. If the word moron could appropriately be used, I would say it would be about him on that particular issue. Tough talk is all well and good, but I prefer tough action and Bush has shown just such mettle in the war on terror including in terms of how we handle terrorist prisoners.

It's a different war when you're fighting an enemy that hides among civilians wearing no uniforms and using stand off tactics like IEDs as opposed to one fighting in set piece battles in the open. You cannot really compare the battles of World War II to an insurgency. Apples and oranges. We could easily defeat these animals if they were lined up on a battlefield. How long did it take us to rout them in the initial invasion? A few weeks? Fighting a hidden enemy is an entirely different military competency than an open battle field fight where your air power, artillery and infantry can quickly chew up an enemy.
