Conservatives had a chance instead they listend to Bush who spent like a sailor, spoke about terror but left our borders open, tried to install a liberal judge to SCOTUS, expanded govt., and refused to stand for conservative values. Talk is cheap and the talking is over for conservatives - expect more blood letting in 08 if they dont start seperating themselves from the racist and tax loving democrats.
I agree that some Conservatives have started distancing themselves from the GOP, or rather the GOP has distanced itself from the Conservatives. The true question is whether or not the GOP will get back to its roots. If we get a Presidential candidate that continues Bush's policy, then the answer is no, and the time will be ripe for a Conservative third party. I think over the next two years, you will see many Conservatives get fed up with the big government we've had (that appears to be growing larger all the time).

The lieberals control the media and the media control the masses.
I really thought the public was too smart to swallow their lies, but I was wrong.
Sad day for the US.

Yep, I agree.
I thought we'd definitely lose some seats and truth be told, I half-expected that we'd lose Congress.
But it still sucks.

Melissa Hart isn't gone as much as Pennsylvania is gone. They have gone to the dark side.Yes, the delusional voters in PA surely have. But not all of us. Some of us Pennsylvanians are truly saddened and mourning tonight. What a shock. I've been saying it all night. It's like the DNC's only platform has been how to smear and defeat incumbent Republicans in 06, especially pro-life candidates. The loss of Hart and Santorum are huge for the state, but also for the nation.

I don't totally disagree with your post.
But the two groups the GOP needed most - the GOP-leaning independents and true independents - walked away.
As nice as it would be, the GOP cannot win on conservatives alone.

When Melissa Hart was elected in 2000, she was seen as a rising star. She was viewed as the idea Republican to appeal to Reagan Democrats. I saw her as a fitting to Arlen Specter's Senate seat. Now those dreams a dashed. What a horrible night.
