Thanks for this post. Never thought I would see this story posted on FR. Have you ever seen the movie Trust? Shelly was something else in that film. It's wonderful if you haven't seen it -- may be out of print, but probably available used at amazon.

I don't see it in this excerpted article, but the latest is that the construction worker confessed to killing her after she complained (I guess on numerous occasions) about all the racket he was making in and around the building.

The murderer's statements have been revealed on TV.

He was doing contracting work on the apartment below the victim's.

She went downstairs to yell at him for continuing to use heavy equipemnt after she asked him not to - she was angry because he woke up her three year old who was napping upstairs.

According to the murderer, he was angry at her for yelling so he punched her in the face and hit her so hard she slammed to the floor.

After he couldn't revive her, he tied a sheet around her neck and hung her from a shower rod to fake a suicide.

He left sneaker marks on the toilet seat as he hung her and the police found the same sneaker marks where he was working and found the shoes matching them on his feet.

He is an illegal immigrant from Ecuador who cannot speak English.
