Man, do I LIKE this thread?(Yes)
Favorite piece? My just returned from Ted Yost's shop Browning Hi-power (9mm). It was excellent when I sent it off for customization. It hovers near perfect now.
Carried in an Alessi strong side belt slide. Spegel handmades in full checkered Dark Coca Bolo.
Next Fav is the Colt Lt.Weight Commander in .45acp.
Also the fav carry (CCW or Not)piece. Does everything well.
Gets carried in a Sparks Summer special IWB or DelFatti belt slide. Esmarelda English walnut handmades.
Hideway and go to the theater and dinner iron, is Walther's PPK in .380(9mmk)in a 35 year old Burghardt suede IWB.
Glock Models#21 & #30 (in .45acp) are NOT favs because of lack of personality but very nice to own, if not to shoot.
They do everything well but are "souless" bits of new wave machinery. (various leather for rare carry occasion)
Gun to carry when favs go to the doctor for work of fixing,
Sig Model P228, in 9mm. Also without soul but very dependable.(various leather for rare occasion when carried)
Only long guns are a Bushmaster (5.56mm)carbine, and a very old (turn of the century).12ga side by side.
Not partial to longies but recognize the need.
Will be looking for a Colt Series 70 1911 Gub'mint for a base to sent to Yost or Harrison for tweaking and dressing.
I NEVER leave home without something that prevents me from standing around uselessly with my Johnson in my hand and nothing else available.

Don't laugh, it's one of the finest shooting .22 handguns i've ever owned. Truly makes a fun day of target shooting.
thank you for the info. Now that I am no longer CA I have more options.
home defense handguns: .38 Spl Ladysmith (wife's gun, but I CHOSE the +P Hydros it eats). Need a 1 handed gun in the dark of night that we BOTH are proficient with. For a known threat, my traveling companion m1911A1 SA (purchased as my 21st Birthday Present to myself years back). The only weapon I have ever brandished to defend myself--the bad guys backed off RIGHT NOW when that came out (I was driving).

the one gun you currently covet most: another 1903 Colt 'Cause 2 is better than 1. And always, another Garand.

If I can find one, I would love to buy another Mateba. Heck, I should have bought a dozen while I was at it.

My 11 year old daughter has a .22 rifle. She's in the Junior NRA, and has earned "sharpshooter" status.
Thanks for the ping Hottie!
I'll bet you could 'splode a few pumkins with that....
It's a custom pistol in 40 caliber.
My wife's dad enjoyed gunsmithing. This is the very last one he made.
.40 caliber is a custom piece. The usual caliber is a .45 shooting a .440 ball and patch. He made a nice wood to metal finish on it. I'm impressed.
I looked at the CVA website and it looks like they no longer make pistols. I did look at the Dixie gun works page and your wife's pistol looks like a Pedersoli Kentucky.
.40 Caliber...my carry gun.
Shoots great, eats everything, easy to carry...and safe.
Saiga-12 A bad-ass shot gun for home -protection, hunting, or just for pumping lead at a high rate of speed.
